From Gandsfjorden to Digernessundet
On 16 August 1985, the substructure of Gullfaks A was on the move. Something resembling four grey columns was slowly towed by nine tugboats toward its next destination.
When the substructure of Gullfaks A—the concrete construction itself—was completed, it had been almost exactly one and a half years since the cornerstone was laid.
By that time, NC had built both the storage cells and four shafts, which the company—with assistance from Moss Rosenberg Verft—had outfitted.
The T-shaped shaft structure was ready in August 1985 to be connected with the steel deck. Before this connection could take place, the substructure remained in Digernessundet for about six months.
